NCB Now: UCL launches policy research unit

1 min read
The UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH) and partners, including NCB, have launched a Policy Research Unit in the Health of Children, Young People and Families (CPRU).

CPRU is funded for five years by the Department of Health policy research programme, to examine the research evidence base for policy. The work of the CPRU falls into four themes, with the theme leads based across UCL working alongside important partners, such as NCB, the Social Care Institute for Excellence and the Anna Freud Centre. The four themes are:

  • The healthy child
  • Healthcare provision
  • Child mental health
  • Adolescence

NCB will be working on patient and public involvement, a subject that cuts across the four themes.

Professor Terence Stephenson, Nuffield professor of child health at ICH and president of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, who leads the project, said: "This is an exciting opportunity to ensure that some of the key policy decisions affecting children and young people can be informed by the best quality research."

The unit was launched on 20 July at ICH.
