YPN Youth Service Survey: Principal officers call for more funds

Of the 56 principal youth officers in England and the Channel Islands who responded to a Young People Now survey, 33 said they did not have enough funding, and only one in five was optimistic or quite optimistic about the situation nationally.

Of those who said they did not have enough funding, 42 per cent came from Conservative-controlled councils, 24 per cent from Labour councils and 18 per cent from areas with no overall control.

Local government finance settlements, the end of Transforming Youth Work funding and the lack of ring-fencing for youth work funding topped the list of concerns.
