Youth Work: Wildlife adoption scheme for young

1 min read Education Youth Work
Budding young David Attenboroughs can now adopt a square kilometre of space to explore wildlife in their local area with the relaunch of the RSPB's WildSquare scheme.

The scheme, run by the charity's junior branch RSPB Wildlife Explorers, returned in August after a four-year absence and has been updated so children can share their findings on the WildSquare website.

Participants receive a starter pack with a folder and calendar and instructions on how to monitor their wildlife patch. Surveys will be run throughout the year to help them build a picture of their area, with results submitted online.

"WildSquare provides a fantastic opportunity for young people to discover more about their favourite place," said RSPB youth project officer Fay Williams. "They'll find out what lives in their kilometre and learn how to look for it."
