Youth work: Oldham youth flying trip helps out terminally ill

1 min read

The nine young men, who were aged between 13 and 16, managed to source 3,000 through the Youth Opportunity Fund for the outing last week, organised by the youth service. In return they have raised nearly 1,000 to help terminally ill young people have the same experience.

Helen Paterson, senior assistant youth worker at Oldham Youth Service, said: "We wanted them to put something back, so we asked them to each raise at least 50. They did it through pizza nights, DVD sales and so on. The staff all got involved, as well as the local community, donating prizes for quizzes."
