Youth Work: English regional units to join forces

Leon Mexter, chief executive of the North East Regional Youth Work Unit, said he hoped the decision to join up on lobbying and bidding for national projects would strengthen the financial position of the various units, which had been weakened by the removal of Transforming Youth Work funding last April.

He said: "We now have a national regional network which has not existed before. This offers an opportunity to work with national partners to develop bids." Miriam Jackson, director of the Youth Work Unit for Yorkshire and the Humber, added: "I hope this will strengthen youth work support and development services across the country."
