Youth services: Quality mark offers chance for services to prove their worth

1 min read

The quality mark is the result of three years' work by The National Youth Agency (NYA), which was commissioned by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). It is designed for all statutory and voluntary services for young people and has been piloted in all nine English regions since September 2004.

The initiative enables youth organisations to assess their strategies against 11 indicators: quality assurance; curriculum; performance management; promoting achievement and learning; management information; and involving young people, as well as equality; partnership; resources; legal requirements and workforce development.

The quality mark is earned after meeting standards in the 11 categories. The NYA is considering raising awareness of the scheme with an annual awards ceremony.
