Interim findings from the Make Space Youth Review, which are being released today (Wednesday), have highlighted young people's concerns about safety and a desire for youth centres they can get to without feeling threatened. The review was launched last July with the aim of putting provision for young people on an equal footing with children's services.
Anne Longfield, chief executive of 4Children, which runs Make Space, said: "The thing that struck us most, and the thing that is most frequently put to us, is a real fear about personal safety."
Make Space surveyed more than 7,000 11- to 16-year-olds for the review, and studied existing research on youth facilities and youth support.
