The National Children's Bureau will take over the running of the youth advisory board of the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) from youth media agency Children's Express this week.
Children's Express was appointed by the DfES last summer to recruit 25 11- to 19-year-olds to its Children and Youth Board and to support their work as advisers. That 250,000 contract ends this week.
A spokeswoman for the DfES said: "We decided to go with a new provider to explore a slightly different delivery model. The board will continue to advise the department on key issues."
The bureau will run the board for the next year.
