Speaking at a UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) event last month, Hughes said: Young people are not willing to be funneled into the youth centre at the end of the street: we need detached youth work to go out to where the kids are.
Young people from the UKYP asked government ministers and other senior figures whether they had ever committed antisocial behaviour. Home Office minister Hazel Blears said: I think probably all of us, when we were growing up, have been fairly obnoxious the powers that weve got to tackle antisocial behaviour are not about the odd incident, but where there is a pattern of antisocial behaviour that is causing a problem.
