The action plan, published by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) today, sets out the Government's intentions to work with the Chief Fire Officers' Association and other organisations to reduce the number of fire-related deaths and incidents caused by young people.
Under the plan, which runs until next year, the Youth Justice Board and the Home Office will raise their staff's awareness of the expertise of fire and rescue services in preventive youth work.
The DCLG and the Chief Fire Officers' Association will also develop a pilot fire-safety education programme for schools.
The Government says about 40 per cent of arsons are attributed to young people.
