Last week Portsmouth Magistrates Court lifted a condition banning a 16-year-old young man from wearing a hooded top, after hearing that it breached his human rights. Matt Foot, founder of pressure group ASBO Concern, said: Hopefully because it has been widely reported it will be heard across the courts, and officers wont come to court asking for these sorts of conditions.
Foot added that the condition was an attack on youth culture.
Gareth Crossman, director of policy at human rights group Liberty, said: Giving somebody an ASBO with the condition that they dont wear a hood is an example of the odd and pointless conditions that can be used with an ASBO an item of clothing doesnt commit antisocial behaviour.
