Youth forum to advise Raleigh

1 min read Youth Work
Volunteering charity Raleigh International has held its first youth forum to encourage young people to influence its work.

The organisation held the first meeting on 14 August, which involved three of the forum's seven young people. Raleigh set up the forum to provide an official channel to engage with young people and ensure their suggestions are heard.

It will also offer a platform for young people who have taken part in previous Raleigh expeditions to discuss volunteering opportunities on their return, as well as focus on how the charity can improve expeditions.

The forum will aim to equip members with new skills, such as developing confidence in group settings and the ability to chair meetings and work autonomously.

Stacey Adams, Raleigh's chief executive, said: "We want to harness this energy and feed it back into our organisation. The youth forum is a great way for young people to have a say in how we develop as a charity. It enables us to learn from young people and ensure that we can build on their enthusiasm and ideas."
