
The Department for Children, Schools and Families study, entitled RiskyBehaviour and Social Activities, found that young people who attendyouth clubs are more likely than those who do not to participate in suchactivity. This was particularly prevalent among 15-year-olds.
The report also found that taking part in sport had little effect on ayoung person's likelihood to undertake dangerous activities. However,those that had participated in sport regularly but stopped were amongthe most likely to take risks.
Youth work trainer Vanessa Rogers said the results show that youth clubsare successfully targeting young people who were likely to be at risk ofindulging in activities that could be harmful to them.
