To coincide with the National Year of Reading, the early years charity is running an art and writing competition for children aged two to 14.
The theme of the competition is "building brighter futures" and children can either design a new cover for their favourite book or write a short story about what the future holds for all of us.
Alison Garnham, joint chief executive of the Daycare Trust, said: "We're asking parents, carers and teachers to encourage children to take up their pens and paintbrushes and enter our competition."
The closing date for entries is 16 May and the winners will be invited to an awards ceremony on 2 June, the start of National Childcare Week, which aims to promote the importance of investing in childcare and early years' provision.
