The Generation Select project will see a select committee led by youngpeople focus on the themes of budgets and potential threats to youthprovision.
"It involves calling chief executives and chief finance officers to giveevidence to young people," said Bez Killeen, active involvement youthworker at Leicester. Killeen is also hoping to get the UK YouthParliament involved in the project.
Leading figures in the youth sector have recently raised concerns thatyouth participation could be reduced as councils make tough decisionsabout youth services budgets. Councils have been urged to make the mostof youth participation when making cuts to ensure they protect servicesthat meet local needs.
