Young Offenders: Information-sharing tool completes pilot

1 min read

The 2.8m tool, Ryogens, allows youth offending teams, youth services, the police, health services and other local agencies to share information and notifies relevant people when intervention may be needed to steer a young person away from crime. Ryogens stands for Reducing Offending Generic Solution.

Denbigh Cowley, programme director, said: "Ryogens helps agencies to identify vulnerable children and encourages better targeting of services.

Already 100 concerns have been logged with the three pilot authorities, 30 alerts have gone out and in 10 cases young people have been getting early intervention as a result."

The project is funded by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and was co-developed by Lewisham, Tower Hamlets and Warwickshire councils.
