INFORMATION SHARING: Knowsley pilot to involve volunteers

The Merseyside authority is one of 10 trailblazer councils working to define how information sharing between young people's services should work.

The identification, referral and tracking (IRT) pilot will involve children and young people in north Kirby and, unlike other similar schemes, will directly involve voluntary groups.

Gail Riley, IRT project manager at Knowsley, said: "We take the view that IRT is about preventing children and young people from coming to harm and wanted all relevant agencies to take part."

She continued: "Many projects in Knowsley are run by voluntary groups and there would be a huge hole if we excluded them from the project."
