Young doubt knife ads will work

1 min read Youth Justice
Nearly half of young people do not think recent Home Office ads will prevent their peers from carrying knives.

An exclusive survey commissioned by CYP Now revealed only 32 per cent of young people think it is likely the ads will work, while 48 per cent say they think it is unlikely.

The British Market Research Bureau surveyed more than 500 young people aged 11 to 19 during the last month. While nearly seven out of 10 said they had recently seen advertising on the dangers of knife crime, 62 per cent said the ads had made them more fearful of violent crime.

UK Youth Parliament member Leah Cope, 15, said: "It's definitely good more young people are aware of the issue. Even if it's not making them change, at least it's making them talk about it."
