YMCA wins funds for mobile unit

Youth Work
West Kent YMCA has received almost 500,000 from the Big Lottery Fund towards the development of a mobile resource unit.

The four-year Vehicle for Change project will take activities, vocational training and advice and information to hard-to-reach and at-risk young people. Plans for the project were brought together by a team including young residents from the YMCA's Ryder House supported housing project.

Trainee youth worker Luke, 23, who helped raise funds for the project, said: "As an ex-offender I am so pleased that this will help keep young people out of trouble."
