Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Sheila Stuart, project officer for the Royal Northern Countryside Initiative

1 min read
What exactly do you do? The Royal Northern Countryside Initiative (RNCI) aims to promote awareness of the countryside through education. This is a part-time post and, although I am based at home near Portsoy, I travel throughout the RNCI area - Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray local authority areas. I'm the link between schools and farmers and often the first point of contact for people approaching the RNCI.

Describe a typical day. It soon became apparent to me after I was appointed in November that there is no such thing as a typical day in this job. Variety was one of the things that appealed to me most about the post.

What other agencies, and who else within your own organisation, do you have to work with? I work very closely with our committee, as well as link farmers who help us, and the many schools who use our services. I also work with other organisations such as the Royal Highland Education Trust.

How did you end up in this job? Having been aware of the great work the RNCI does, I was keen to get involved.
