Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Angie West, finance controller, The Trojans Scheme

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I manage the money in and out of the organisation and see that the decision makers get up-to-date information.

Describe a typical day. This charity generates income from fees, service level agreements and grants. It's like running three businesses in terms of finance reporting so the duties are very varied and could include calculations for payroll, entering data, chasing up bounced cheques, conducting audits on our branches, processing monitoring information for grants or research purposes and anything in between. The organisation is quite special and finance control is not at all dull here.

What other agencies, and who else within your organisation, do you work with? I liaise with all the different funders and strategic level agreements teams. I meet the chief executive once a week to review our position and set priorities and I work closely with her and the fundraising team. I have an assistant and a volunteer comes in regularly. I also sit on the senior team.
