The aim is to have concrete plans ahead of the 2007 comprehensivespending review, which will set Government spending priorities for thenext three years.
"It's a very good thing since money lies at the heart of many of ourproblems," said Caroline Abrahams, director of public policy atchildren's charity NCH.
The announcement comes as the Government set out the details of itsreview of the social care workforce, Options for Excellence. Workinggroups are currently exploring issues such as a shortage of social careworkers, training, and how to drive up standards. Proposals to helpemployers change over the next 15 years should be ready in theautumn.
"This is a real opportunity to make some major changes," said LynneBerry, chief executive of the General Social Care Council.
