ENGLAND
Faith-based youth work in England is dominated by Christian churches, such as the Church of England. At one time it was estimated that more people were involved in work with children and young people through the Church than through local authorities. There are also a variety of smaller groups providing youth work within the wide range of minority religions, as well as inter-faith work, although this is at a more embryonic stage. Practice varies widely according to the type of group. Evangelical groups are likely to keep their distance from other youth provision, but other groups with religious links can get involved closely in work with local authority services.
