I would make it far more accessible. The world of work inspires me and I am keen to get lots of extras on my CV to show employees that I am motivated. However, having just completed a two-week work placement, I've found more focus is needed.

Most people just brush youngsters aside and think of us as yobs, but this is not the case. We are the next generation of mechanics, hotel managers and entrepreneurs. So, I find it puzzling that employers are so reserved in offering teens work placements.

Young people like me are stuck in a vicious circle, unable to get work because we have no experience, but employers refuse to give us even unpaid experience. Young people don't want to roam the streets and cause trouble, but there is very little investment of time from adults, and so street crime is soaring.
