Teenage gang members' minds

If I were in charge of the mind of a teenager in a gang, I would make them question their reasons for joining a gang. Knowing why teenagers get involved in these groups will help us to develop a way of stopping them.

I believe that gun and knife crimes committed by youths are partly down to music. Rap and hip-hop artists portray weaponry and women as objects; this affects the views of young people. If you were to ask the teenagers that have committed knife and gun crimes in the past two years what music they like, I am certain it would be rap and hip-hop.

The minority of teenagers that are in these infamous groups are creating an unfair stereotype of youth today. It is becoming increasingly difficult to get adults to believe that the majority of young people do not carry knives and guns, and would never think of using them.
