The health and social care white paper includes proposals for an NHS"life check" service to help people assess their risk of ill health atcritical points in their life. This means parents will be able tocomplete a self-assessment of their child's health, which will lead toadvice and support if necessary. This service will initially be targetedat deprived areas and be rolled out from 2007.
