Briefing: Crib Sheet - The health white paper

2 mins read
Children and young people were among thousands of people who were consulted on what the health white paper should include.

Healthy living starts early. Can't argue with that. Unfortunately, as isrecognised in the Government's latest white paper, healthy living kindof slips once one's pizza addiction takes over.

So how does the Government suggest we stay healthy? This is a paper withhuge ambitions. We're all meant to take more of an interest in andresponsibility for improving and maintaining our own good health.

Five veg a day, steamed food and exercise? That's a good prescriptionfor the healthy, but some people need additional care for healthproblems.

The programme is built around four goals: better prevention and earlierintervention; giving people choice and a voice; tackling healthinequalities and improving access to community services; and supportingpeople with long-term needs.
