Why has the service been launched? The hospital wanted to encourage staff and potential recruits with young children to work at the hospital. Jan Bloomfield, the hospital's workforce and communications director, says: "The opening of the nursery will make it much easier for people with young children to pursue a career at West Suffolk Hospital. We are committed to attracting the best possible staff to work at the hospital. The nursery will act as an extra incentive to those with young children, who otherwise may struggle to find convenient childcare while working in very busy roles."
What are the facilities like? The nursery is set in an area of woodland within the grounds of the hospital so has outside play areas, as well as a kitchen and three rooms for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
