What did it involve? The young people visited libraries, talked to members of the canal community and conducted interviews with canal dwellers who experienced life on the canal before and during the Second World War. The project culminated in a two-day residential aboard a narrow boat.
How did it go? WAYC youth worker David Bates says: "This has been a fantastic opportunity for the young people to engage in a project that explored the history of the local area and canals. I was very impressed with the development and growth of the young people while they were aboard the narrow boat. They developed many practical skills and overcame many personal challenges."
