Jodie Stirrup, youth volunteer adviser, Warwickshire Association of Youth Clubs.

What appealed about this role?

I was previously centre-based and found a lot of young people were volunteering through the Millennium Volunteers scheme. This job allows me to be out and about and meet young people. I was based on an estate and I'm now looking at developing a rural strategy for volunteering.

How do you sell volunteering to young people?

I tell them it can be the extra element on their CV that will make them stand out. Volunteering covers so many different activities, from working with animals to helping out with a Sunday football team to DJing, so I try and discover what young people are interested in and find an opportunity that fits.
