The Welsh Assembly Government set up the forum in North Wales following a recommendation from the Wales Resilience Forum, which met shortly after the London bombings last July.
Jane Hutt, minister for business, children and equalities, said: "We condemn terrorism and extremism but recognise that exclusion and discrimination could lead to widespread fear and disaffection. A lot of young Muslims felt threatened by the backlash after 7 July and the feeling is that we need to understand young people's concerns more clearly." She added that the assembly's aim was to empower young people and make sure its methods for consultation are representative.
