Wales launched its National Standards for Children and Young People'sParticipation last week. Endorsed by the Welsh Assembly last year, theseven standards have been drawn up by Save the Children, theParticipation Forum, Funky Dragon and young people from acrossWales.
The standards will provide a benchmark for councils and children'sorganisations and increase their accountability on the issue through akite-marking scheme.
Eleri Thomas, chair of the Participation Forum and assistant programmedirector at Save the Children, said that the standards includedlistening to young people, respecting their decisions and making surechildren knew how their views were being followed up.
She added that the document's young people-friendly format reflectedmoves in England to simplify the National Youth Agency's "complex" Hearby Right standards.
