The Assembly's play policy implementation group will present its findings today (10 November) when a major consultation on its recommendations will be launched.
The group is calling for greater recognition for the importance of play at a national and local level. It wants better training on play for teachers and nursery nurses and more funding to boost play projects and facilities.
The group also says Community Land Trusts and other organisations that preserve open space should be offered first refusal on public land when it is up for sale.
The long-awaited national play strategy will be based on the consultation, which will run until 5 January 2005.
