NCB Now: Play guidance for local authorities

Play England has produced new guidance on how local authorities and their partners in children's trusts can plan strategically for play and child-friendly public space, as required by statutory guidance.

Embedding the Play Strategy shows how extending play space and improving the wider environment for children can drive improvements across the Every Child Matters outcomes, as well as producing benefits for the wider community.

The guidance recommends local play strategies within commissioning processes for children's trusts and underlines the importance of spatial planning for children's environmental wellbeing.

The consultation will inform new non-statutory guidance.
