Volunteering: Young to help conserve churches

Up to 140 young people are to help protect churches and cathedrals through a number of conservation projects organised by volunteering charity CSV.

The projects are a continuation of the work of Cathedral Camps, which merged with CSV last year after financial difficulties. The 16- to 25-year-old volunteers will help to restore buildings such as Derby and Southwark Cathedrals.

Arnie Wickens, assistant director of CSV, said: "This demonstrates the positive impact that young people make in helping to protect our architectural heritage."
