The project plans to get 4,000 young people aged 16 to 25 engaged in volunteering in their own community. Money for the project has been provided as part of volunteering charity v's vinvolved initiative, which hopes to inspire half a million more young people to volunteer in England.
David Seward, chief executive of BACYP, says: "The funding will enable us to build on the previous eight years of the Millennium Volunteers programme and enable more young people to volunteer."
