VOLUNTARY SECTOR: Weston Spirit gets funding for centre

The centre, which is likely to be in the Cannock area, will offer a range of personal and social development programmes.

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust has provided 185,000: three corporate partners - BMW, Lloyds TSB Foundation and Severn Trent - are putting in a combined 45,000.

The opening of the Staffordshire centre will bring the total number of Weston Spirit centres nationwide to 10.

A Weston Spirit spokeswoman said: "We open in places where the youth work we do will have the most impact." WALES: Colleges hit out at training cutbacks.
