The two organisations have previously worked together on specific issues, such as the Every Child Matters consultation, but members are now being asked to consider how a long-term partnership might work.
NCVYS members agreed to consult on closer working at its annual general meeting last week. Members welcomed the move, saying it could lead to a stronger organisation, but warned that care must be taken to ensure NCVYS retains its independence.
Ian Vallender, director of policy and information at NCVCCO, said the organisation would be launching a similar consultation in November. "We are looking at how we can work more closely with NCVYS," he added.
