Voluntary groups to play part in reforms

The Department for Education and Skills said it was developing a strategy to guarantee the involvement of voluntary and community organisations in the overhaul of youth services.

Paul Ennals, director of the National Children's Bureau, welcomed the news. "I'm really glad they have acknowledged the need to involve the voluntary sector, especially after the problems with the Children's Fund," he said. "We have to wait and see what is in the strategy, but the plan does press all the right buttons."

Connexions funds diverted via trusts Connexions funding will be channelled through children's trusts in a bid to ensure the two plan their work together, the Government said last week.
