The government has given local authorities in England until April to reshape the way they deliver services to young people. The proposals for integrated youth support services were supposed to benefit voluntary groups, since local authorities are being urged by the government to commission local organisations to run services for young people.
But Detty Tyler, the development officer at East Riding Council for Voluntary Youth Services, said little was known about changes ahead. "Local authorities in my area aren't telling voluntary groups what's going on or how it will affect them," she said. "We're not being included in any of the discussions."
