I'm doing a BTEC National Diploma in health and social care at Solihull College. There are no exams and it is all coursework, which really keeps you focused.

While it's a very practical course there is a lot of theory to learn too. I like how flexible it is because it mixes classroom learning with work experience - you spend four days a week in college and the other day at a placement. I also really like the one-to-one tutorials where you can discuss any concerns with the teacher.

You do a block placement where you choose where you'd like to work to get experience that will stand you in good stead once you've got your qualification. This is a great help in giving you confidence. Having the freedom to try things that suit your personality is really good.
