Training: Sports journalism scheme unveiled

A national training programme that combines young people's interest in sport and the media launched in London last month.

Under the Supporter to Reporter initiative, young people will get the opportunity to work alongside professional journalists from the BBC, Sky and ITV. Students of all ages will be encouraged to develop their interest in a range of sports while learning new skills and working towards qualifications.

The scheme, which is part-funded by the Football Foundation, is going nationwide after being successfully piloted in the North West last year.

Glyn McGuire, Aiming High co-ordinator for Trafford Children and Young People's Service, said: "It is great news that young people across the country will access and benefit from these opportunities."
