Tory leader's wife visits Bolton club

Youth Work
Bolton Lads & Girls Club received a visit from Samantha Cameron last month as part of the Conservative Party's election campaign.

The Tory leader's wife and Bolton North East Conservative candidate Deborah Dunleavy spent more than an hour at the youth centre chatting to staff and young people. She also took part in activities with children who are involved in the club's mentoring programme.

Helen Newlove, whose husband Garry was killed by a gang of young people in 2007, joined Cameron on the visit. Newlove is leading a project to build a similar youth centre in Warrington.

Karen Edwards, chief executive of Bolton Lads & Girls Club, said: "Cameron was genuinely interested in hearing about the club and the work we do and was pleased to help the children make their table decorations."
