Purpose To provide affordable, accessible and quality youth provision for all as well as extra support to the most vulnerable

Background Bolton Lads & Girls Club is one of the longest running youth clubs in the UK. It started life as Bolton Lads Club in 1889, set up by local businesses to give young mill workers somewhere safe to go. In the early 1990s, it was one of the first lads' clubs to open up to girls. In 2002, the club moved to new purpose-built premises in the centre of Bolton following a £4.5m grant from Sport England and now has 3,000 young people registered as members.
