The voluntary sector youth club plans to convert Burnthwaite Children's Home in Bolton into an education centre where children and young people can learn about nature and develop a range of skills. The forest school will build on the work of an existing Bolton Lads & Girls Club programme, which takes inner-city young people to visit woodland areas.
The proposals gained planning consent at a council meeting last month. Liberal Democrat councillor David Wilkinson said: "A lot of those who will use this have probably never even been into the countryside and this is a great opportunity."
