A project to involve under-fives in children's professionals' training is among eight schemes to gain funding through the Children's Workforce Development Council's children and young people's panel.

London's successful bid is a Pre-School Learning Alliance scheme to help children's professionals engage fathers. In the East Midlands Fostering People secured funding for a project to involve looked-after children and the children of carers in foster carer recruitment.

However, further applications are now being invited for the East of England, as neither panel could decide on a successful project to be given funding.
