The Paul Hamlyn Foundation - Education and Learning Open Grants Scheme

1 min read
What it is: The Education and Learning Open Grants Scheme aims to support the development of new ideas that help to increase education and learning for organisations, groups and individuals. The foundation is particularly concerned with how education affects social change and expects work it supports to influence policy decisions.

How much is on offer: In 2005-2006, the foundation made 301 grants, with the average amount being £19,300. There is no minimum or maximum limit.

What it will fund: Applications are currently being accepted for projects that foster innovation and change in the areas of supplementary schooling, school exclusion and truancy. The foundation may support initial research into possible interventions, pilot studies, introduction of best practice in under-developed areas and new approaches to evaluation.

Who can apply: Charities or not-for-profit organisations are eligible. Local authorities can also apply if they can prove that any profits from a project will be used for charitable purposes. The foundation will also consider applications from schools, pre-schools, out-of-school-clubs, colleges and youth clubs if they can demonstrate benefits to the wider community.
