The Paul Hamlyn Foundation

1 min read
What is it? The Paul Hamlyn Foundation is a grant-giving charity that seeks to fund projects that help individuals realise their potential. It has a particular focus on work with children, young people and the disadvantaged. It was created by publisher Lord Paul Hamlyn, who died in 2001.

How much is on offer? The foundation has no minimum or maximum amount for the grants, but it prefers applications where another funding source is also involved. In 2005/06 the average size of a grant given by the foundation was £19,300. The projects it funds can last up to six years, although up to three years is more usual.

What will it fund? There are three funding programmes for work in the UK run by the foundation. The Arts Programme supports work to increase people's involvement in and enjoyment of the arts. The Education and Learning Programme bankrolls educational projects and research while the Social Justice Programme supports efforts to help marginalised groups of people integrate with wider society.
