Cannabis is the main drug of concern when it comes to driving. It is known to impair coordination and visual perception. However the British Medical Association has found that motorists are largely ignorant of the effects that drugs like cannabis can have on their judgement. Driving while unfit under the influence of drugs is an offence and a driver faces the same penalties as those who drive under the influence of alcohol.
