The National Youth Agency is supporting YouthBOOX Moving On, the latest phase in its drive to bring socially excluded young people back to reading.
YouthBOOX, an initiative run in partnership with The Reading Agency, brings together youth workers and librarians and has worked in 20 areas over the last four years. YouthBOOX Moving On is now helping the lessons learned from past projects to inform national work, contributing to the wider understanding of how young people with lower reading levels can be helped and inspired, and making new resources available. The project has outlined evaluation methods and has placed special emphasis on boosting basic skills. The Basic Skills Agency has now joined the initiative's steering group and is working in partnership on relevant aspects of the programme.
